Question: How can teachers help students draw conclusions about the quality of their discussions?
Answer: Gives 30 index cards of one color to each member of the group—one color to each person in the five-person group. When a person speaks during a small-group discussion, the speaker throws a card into the center of the table. When the discussion is concluded, the number of cards of different colors indicates how often each person spoke. What conclusion can be drawn about the discussion if one color predominates? What conclusion can be drawn if almost equal numbers of colors fill the center of the table?
Comment: An interesting technique. RayS.
