Question: How can
teachers turn response to poetry from groans to enjoyment?
Answer: Read your
favorite poems aloud—and other literature as well. As the author says, “Reading
aloud can motivate students to read and to read more.”
Another idea: “Play the opening tracks
of an audio book as students come into the classroom.”
Comment: Ask your students if they remember any books
read to them by parents and relatives when young and by teachers through the
grades. RayS.
