Note: Normally, I do not publish my blog, English
Updates, on weekends. However, I publish several other blogs during the
week having to do with ideas that are not current, but still useful. On
weekends, I will publish samples of these ideas. RayS.
Question: How can
teachers provide opportunities for ESL students to become active language users rather than passive language users?
Comment: OUCH! We teachers talk too much. We need to
give students opportunities to express their own ideas in their own words. We
need to stop the passive listening to language and to have them use
language actively. I’m guilty. I need to change! RayS.
